Publisher of Daily Nigerian, Jaafar Jaafar, has called on President Tinubu to appoint Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo as Minister of Foreign Affairs or some other high-level Christian official to counter Donald Trump’s narrative of Christian genocide.
In a post on X, he said, “Trump, unhinged more than ever, with a false claim of genocide against Christians in Nigeria. While the claim is deeply concerning, it did not surprise me, given Trump’s antecedents.
“If Trump did not spare the agency he once funded from accusation of funding terror, why not Nigeria? It’s time Tinubu recalibrated his diplomatic approach, at least for the optics.
“At the time Nigeria needs a high-level Christian official to counter the narrative, the president, the vice president and the foreign minister are all Muslims! I suggest Festus Keyamo should swap positions with Yusuf Tuggar or Bianca Ojukwu be promoted to full minister to particularly lobby the Westminster and the Capitol.”
Conversations have been rife on Twitter all through the weekend after Donald Trump designated Nigeria as a country of particular concern citing christian genocide. Some have welcomed potential US involvement in the Anti – Terrorism fight whilst others see it as a recipe for potential disaster and a Libya-like situation.
