Canada Officially Reopens 2025 Parents, Grandparents Program For Permanent Residents

Canada Parents and Grandparents Visa

Canada has officially reopened the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) for 2025, giving permanent residents and citizens a chance to bring their parents or grandparents to live with them permanently.

This year, only people who submitted an interest in to sponsorship form in 2020 and have not received an ITA between 2020 and 2024 are eligible.

Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP)

The PGP allows Canadian citizens and permanent residents to sponsor their parents or grandparents for permanent residence, giving them access to healthcare, social benefits, and the ability to live in Canada indefinitely.

This year, 17,860 invitations will be sent, while only 10,000 completed applications will be accepted. Invited applicants would have to submit two online forms through IRCC’s Permanent Residence Portal by 11:59 p.m. ET on October 9, 2025.

Application Fees

The base cost for one parent or grandparent is CAD $1,205, broken down as:

Additional fees apply for spouses, partners, or dependent children, plus third-party costs like medical exams and police certificates.
