Nollywood actor Odira Nwobu has been reported dead in South Africa following issues with a high blood pressure in his sleep.
43 year old Odira who is said to have travelled to south Africa with other influencers for work reportedly passed in his sleep on Monday after he returned from the club.
Acting Career
He first gained widespread recognition through his comedy skits on social media, where he often adopted the persona “Joseph The Dreamer.” Those skits helped him build a large following on Facebook and Instagram and positioned him as a prominent Nollywood comic figure.
Beyond skits, Odira appeared in a number of Nollywood movies and comedy films, typically playing humorous, exaggerated characters that leaned into his comic timing and expressive style. Several entertainment reports describe him as “best known for his hilarious skits and roles in Nollywood movies.”
He was nominated as Best Comic Actor at the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), underscoring his reputation as a comic performer rather than a strictly dramatic actor.
He had a huge social media presence with his social media pages (especially Facebook and Instagram) showing him branding himself as a reel creator / content creator, often blending stand-up–style monologues with short situational comedy videos, usually in pidgin and Igbo-influenced English, reflecting everyday Nigerian struggles and humour.
