He participated in the EverBank Touchdowns for Tomorrow program, emphasizing the importance of financial literacy among youth. Additionally, during the holiday season, he volunteered with Blessings in a Backpack, a nonprofit organization that provides food to school-aged children who might otherwise go hungry during weekends and holidays.
Reflecting on the honor, Armstead stated, “Receiving the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award is an incredible honor one that goes beyond football. This award represents the power of service, the responsibility to uplift others, and the impact we can create through education.”
On the field, Armstead has appeared in over 125 games, including two Super Bowls, and has recorded 34.5 sacks and 185 tackles during his career.
As the recipient of the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award, Armstead will receive a $265,000 donation to the charity of his choice, made possible by the NFL Foundation and Nationwide.
