On April 28, leading legal and financial experts and experienced oil and gas sector professionals gathered at the Southern Sun Ikoyi to discuss how Nigerian independent oil and gas producers could attract funding and increase production. The conference, sponsored by Niger Delta Exploration and Production Company and SellyFak Energy Services, took place against the backdrop of Nigeria’s inability to meet its OPEC crude oil export quota and major divestments by the international oil companies. A total of 24 experts from 23 organisations spoke at the conference. The Keynote Address was given by Engineer Gbenga Komolafe, the CEO, Nigeria Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Agency (NUPRC), represented by Mr. Edu Iyang, Head of Basinal Assessment and Lease Administration at the NUPRC.
