The Photos app in iOS 18 has been completely overhauled to provide a more intuitive and enjoyable experience. The new unified view simplifies the navigation of photo libraries, displaying a familiar grid that organises photos into collections based on themes such as people, pets, and places.
This redesign makes it easier for users to find and relive their favourite moments without the need to manually organise their photos into albums.
One of the notable new features is the carousel view, which highlights important memories and updates daily with new content. Autoplaying videos and live photos within the app bring libraries to life, allowing users to enjoy past moments while browsing their collections.
The app also offers customisation options, enabling users to organise and pin collections, ensuring that their most cherished memories are always easily accessible.

The introduction of new text effects allows for more expressive messaging, with dynamic animations that amplify any letter, word, phrase, or emoji. Users can also format their messages with bold, underline, italics, and strikethrough, adding clarity and emphasis to their conversations.
Another major addition is the support for Rich Communication Services (RCS) when messaging contacts who do not have an Apple device. This ensures richer media and more reliable group messaging compared to traditional SMS and MMS, bridging the gap between different mobile platforms.

Safari, already renowned as the world’s fastest browser, has received updates that make discovering information on the web even easier.
The new Highlights feature uses machine learning to surface key information about a webpage, such as summaries, locations, and relevant media, providing a richer browsing experience. The redesigned Reader mode offers distraction-free reading with added summaries and tables of contents for longer articles.
Building on the foundation of Keychain, the new Passwords app simplifies the management of passwords, passkeys, Wi-Fi passwords, and verification codes. The app also alerts users to common weaknesses, such as reused or easily guessed passwords, and those involved in data breaches, enhancing overall security.
