Airtel Africa Successfully Tests Satellite Internet Speed Above Moving Train in Sub-Saharan Africa

Airtel Africa internet speed

Airtel Africa has successfully tested satellite internet on a moving train in sub-Saharan Africa. This achievement is a significant milestone for Airtel Africa internet speed. It ensures high-speed access in even the most remote areas.

Powered by Airtel Satellite for Business and the OneWeb low-earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellation from Eutelsat, the testing results show that internet connectivity was maintained throughout the journey. Even in heavily forested regions, connectivity was stable. During the tests, Airtel Africa internet speed saw download speeds reaching up to 100 Mbps. Upload speeds of 20 Mbps are adequate for operational needs. Passengers can also use multiple devices. This performance aligns closely with the trial’s traffic plan. It validates the system’s capacity for delivering consistent internet connectivity on the move.

Looking ahead, Airtel emphasizes that with dependable internet access, rail operators stand to gain benefits such as real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, and quicker emergency responses. Additionally, passengers could enjoy enhanced travel experiences. These include on-board Wi-Fi, digital ticketing, real-time travel updates, and access to entertainment streaming.
