The role is based in Casablanca, Morocco, and targets seasoned professionals eager to contribute to Africa’s infrastructure development while delivering strong commercial returns.
Africa50 plays a critical role in Africa’s growth by developing bankable infrastructure projects, catalyzing public-sector capital, and mobilizing private-sector investment.
To date, the firm has raised over US$1 billion from African governments, development finance institutions, central banks, and major pension funds.
Role Overview: Investment Associate, Project Finance
The Investment Associate will join Africa50’s Project Finance team, which focuses on minority equity investments in late-stage infrastructure projects and growth platforms across Africa.
The team works across key sectors including power, transport, ICT, healthcare, education, and digital infrastructure.
Due to the relatively lean team structure, successful candidates will work closely with senior investment professionals, management teams, and external advisors, gaining deep exposure to deal execution and portfolio management.
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be expected to:
- Develop and manage a strong pipeline of infrastructure investment opportunities
- Conduct detailed financial modeling, valuation, and investment analysis
- Coordinate multiple due diligence workstreams including financial, legal, technical, commercial, and ESG reviews
- Support and participate in negotiations with project sponsors and developers
- Prepare high-quality investment memoranda and project documentation for internal and external stakeholders
- Monitor portfolio companies and contribute to exit strategy analysis
Candidate Requirements
Educational & Professional Background
- 6–10 years’ experience in investment banking (M&A), private equity, or similar investment roles
- Advanced degree such as MBA, MA, or MSc
- Strong financial modeling and valuation skills
- Prior experience in emerging markets, especially Africa, is an advantage
- Sector experience in power, gas, transportation, healthcare, education, or digital infrastructure is a plus
Core Competencies
- Strong understanding of investment structuring and execution
- Solid knowledge of accounting, finance, valuation, legal, tax, and regulatory frameworks
- Ability to manage multiple deals and workstreams simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Fluency in English is required; French is an added advantage
