According to a video shared by @Omolomo_o on X students could be seen writing the examination with candles and other external lighting sources on Wednesday evening.

The Examination was supposed to last between the hours of 8:30am to 1:30pm but candidates in some centers were still writing the examinations as at 7pm. This led to an outcry from parents who feared for the safety of their children.

WAEC Response

WAEC in a statement by its spokesperson, Moyosola Adeshina, WAEC said it successfully achieved its objective but faced logistical challenges and security concerns that affected the schedule for the examination..

“We recognise the importance of timely conduct of examinations and the impact of this decision on the candidates, their schools and parents, and we sincerely apologise for any inconveniences caused.
