Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has raised over N20.5 billion through her Oluremi@65 Education Fund, launched to mark her 65th birthday. The fund is dedicated to completing the National Library in Abuja, a project that has remained unfinished for more than three decades.
The initiative, being managed by the Federal Ministry of Education, is still open to further contributions until December 2025. Donors are encouraged to support the cause by paying into the Oluremi@65 Education Fund, Zenith Bank account number 1310314977.
The completion of the National Library is expected to boost Nigeria’s educational infrastructure, preserve knowledge, and serve as a central hub for research and learning across the country.
National Library Project
The National Library of Nigeria was conceived in the 1960s to serve as the country’s intellectual repository, housing key national publications, archives, and reference materials.
The construction of a modern headquarters complex began in Abuja to replace the older facility in Lagos in 1990. However, years of neglect has kept the project incomplete for the past thirty years.
