£154M Union: Divorced Adele Hooks Up with Ogun State Local Chief, Joseph Adenuga

Five months after her split from husband, Simon Konecki, British singer, Adele, is back on the dating scene. This time, her new man is reported to be British-Nigerian musician, Joseph Adenuga Jr.—popularly known as Skepta. Adenuga is a rapper, songwriter, record producer and music video director, born in North London to immigrant parents from Nigeria.

The two Tottenham-born superstars have been cordial since 2016, when the “Hello” songstress initiated contact on Twitter by posting a picture of him along with the words “Tottenham Boy” and a red heart emoji. She tagged his single #Konnichiwa. He reposted with a rose and “love you.”

Skepta rose to fame through a rap battle with Seagar, a prominent grime (a genre of electronic dance music that emerged in London in the early 2000s) artist. He released his ironically-titled debut album Greatest Hits in 2007. He has produced several hits including That’s Not Me, Man and Shut Down, and in 2016 he won the Mercury Prize for his album Konnichiwa (which peaked at number two in the UK charts), including two MOBOS, an NME Award, 2 Ivor Novello Awards and a BET Award for Best International Act.

Back home in Nigeria, he is a proud chieftaincy holder in his hometown of Ogun State, receiving the title of the Amuludun of Odo-Aje, on 4 April 2018.

Prior to being linked with Adele, Skepta was romantically involved with supermodel, Naomi Campbell until 2018. Not one to make his private life a tabloid affair, details about Skepta are quite scarce beyond his impressive career course.

Courtesy of his album sales and mega-successful world tours, Skepta has amassed a fortune, with his net worth estimated to be over £4m in 2018. Adele, on the other hand, is worth a whopping £150 million. According to the Sunday Times’ Rich List, the English pop queen is the richest female musician in the United Kingdom. With a trio of record-breaking albums (two of which are the UK’s first and second best-selling albums of the decade) and two concert tours, Adele—like Skepta—rose to multimillionaire status primarily through her music sales. These two are sensational artists in their own right, and this just might be the start of a powerful union.
