Wema Bank Appoints New Independent Non-Executive Director

The Board Directors of Wema Bank Plc just announced the appointment of Mrs. Ibiye Asime
Ekong as an independent non-executive director of the bank.
This was revealed in a letter sent by Wema Bank to The Nigerian Stock Exchange, dated 6,
October 2020.
Ibiye has a B.Sc. degree in Finance with special reference to Banking from the University of
Lagos (UNILAG), she also has an Executive Master’s in Business Administration (EMBA) from
Pan African University, amongst other professional certificates.

She is a finance professional with over 28 years’ experience in Accounting and Banking and
Finance with a passionate bias for Retail.
After working for several years at different firms and putting in her top-notch skills in what
she does, she retired from Skye Bank Plc as an Executive Director.
Ibiye is a Fellow and former Council Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria
(CIBN) and she currently serves on the Finance and General Purposes Committee of the
Governing Council of the CIBN.

She is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and member
of the Institute of Directors (ioD) and the Risk Management Association of Nigeria.
